God gives each of us gifts and abilities to build up the Church. At Redemption, serving also means being a part of the family! Just as the whole family comes together to help get dinner on the table, we all come together to create a church of worship, service, and love. Service Opportunities
Explore our volunteer roles
Altar Guild Team Member
Maintain the ceremonial objects used in worship
- Care for linens, priests’ vestments, and altar vessels (i.e. chalices)
- Arrive 30-45 minutes
- Before start of the service to prepare altar
- Wash and put away vessels and linens after service
Setup Volunteer
Help prepare the space for weekly worship
- Arrive 8 am
- Set up altar, children’s area, and narthex
Teardown Volunteer
- Help take down altar, children’s area, and narthex
- Finish by 12
Hospitality Team Member
Help ensure guests and members feel at home during their time at church
- Coordinate food & beverages for monthly socials
- Set up & serve refreshments for coffee hour after Sunday service
- Take food to those who are ill or shut in (as needed)
Nursery Volunteer (Infant-4 Years)
Build up the children of Redemption in their knowledge and love of the Lord through teaching, play, and prayer
- Facilitate safe and positive play with Redemption's smallest worshipers
- Clean up classroom at the end of service
Lower Elementary Volunteer (4-6 Years)
Build up the children of Redemption in their knowledge and love of the Lord through teaching, play, and prayer
- Lead children in a provided lesson, including a craft or activity, Bible story, and simple prayer
- Guide the children in cleaning up after themselves at the end of class
Upper Elementary Volunteer (7-10 Years)
Build up the children of Redemption in their knowledge and love of the Lord through teaching, play, and prayer
- Lead children in a provided lesson, including a craft or activity, Bible story, and prayer
- Work within provided structure to keep class focused and on time
- Guide children in cleaning up after themselves at the end of class
Prayer Team Member
Walk alongside the congregation in prayer
- Attend prayer minister training and shadow a current prayer minister
- Serve as prayer minister during worship services
- Listening to congregant prayer requests and interceding on their behalf
- Lift up church concerns in prayer throughout the week
Greeter
Ensure guests and members are safe and comfortable during their time in our worship space
- Welcome and direct visitors and members before Sunday Service
- Distribute bulletins and optional name tags
Ushers/Security
Ensure guests and members are safe and comfortable during their time in our worship space
- Manage bulletins, offerings, & communion line-up
- Perform headcount and offering counts
- Setup outdoor signage & provide front door surveillance
Scripture Readers
Lead the congregation in engaging with Holy Scripture during worship services
- Read the lectionary readings (Old or New Testament) & other readings during worship services
- Review readings ahead of time in preparation for worship services
Musicians and Vocalists
Facilitate smooth and joyful worship for the congregation using musical
- Lead the congregation in worship through voice or musical instrument
- Practice assigned music at home & attend weekly rehearsals
Technology
Facilitate smooth and joyful worship for the congregation through technology
- Run lyric projection or soundboard during worship
- Coordinate with performers for smooth transitions
